Primula auricula 'Cornmeal' One of the inspirations of my life as a gardener was the original Victory Garden that broadcast on Public Television in the 1970's out of Boston, and was hosted by Jim Crockett. Not only was he the best of guides into the garden world, but also authored numerous books on the subject. In one of them, The Time-Life Book of Perennials, you will find a 2 page spread on auricula primroses. And a picture of the relatively young Cyrus Happy, a man who had a particular interest in collecting and hybridizing primroses. The flowers shown in the pictures here are of one of his selections, the variety named 'Cornmeal.' |
