Penstemon 'Wine Kissed'

This penstemon is richly colored and long blooming -- once it starts to bloom in July it continues nonstop until frosts arrive. It is perennial but is not as cold tolerant as many of the smaller flowered penstemons. As the saying goes, “nobody is perfect.” It's worth the effort of protecting it over winter in a cool greenhouse just to be able to have its long stems of wine colored flowers to add to bouquets next year.
