Lilium mackliniae

Lilium mackliniae

We purchased three bulbs of this in 2009, in a very small size. After growing them for a year they grew enough to be able to flower in May of this year, 2010. They only produced one flower per stem, and topped out at about twelve to fifteen inches in height. The flowers are about two inches in diameter, and nodding. There is no scent that we notice in the flowers, darn it! One good location for it in a garden would be planted in filtered light or where it would receive morning sun only.

We will leave one of our three original plants undivided, to see if it grows any taller in 2011 and if a plant will give several flowers per stem. The other two plants will be divided so that we might be able to share it.
